Nikki Haley Bus Tour Stop in Irmo
After the parade, we went to a Nikki Haley bus tour stop where she gave a speech to rouse supporters. While we were waiting for the event to start, we met a very kind and passionate volunteer named Loretta Smith. It was her first time being involved with a campaign, and she is very passionate. Also while we were waiting, we talked to some journalism students from the University of Southern California who were there on a research grant. They were super nice and it was great to talk to some people in a similar situation as us! For Haley's speech, it was nice to learn what policy she is running on, as I was not very familiar with her platform before. There were some topics where I was following and agreed, then I felt like she would take a sharp turn to something very different. Overall, it was a valuable experience to have and I liked the stickers I got. We also had a really cool opportunity to meet and talk with her son, who we learned is getting college credit hours through his university by joining her on her bus tour.
