Meg Kinnard ~ Journalist for the Associated Press
This morning, we had an awesome opportunity to talk to a reporter from the Associated Press: Meg Kinnard. She was incredibly intelligent and well-spoken, and I felt like I learned a lot. She told us that she has been following the Haley campaign the entire time. She also told us a little more about why South Carolina's primary is so important, here is what she had to say:
"Whoever wins here, particularly as a Republican, tends to do well in the following Super Tuesday states."
Further, she told us about what she has seen voters reacting well to, and that topics of immigration and the economy have seemed to be the most important in this cycle. After this discussion, Kinnard moved on to discussing what it has been like to be a reporter, and how the distrust in news sources and belief in 'fake news' has been so jarring. She expressed her frustration with news outlets, reporters, and journalists moving away from objectivity, telling us that rounded and thorough research is the name of the game. I really loved to hear from her, especially about her personal experiences with the political figures I only ever get to know through screens.
Here is a recent Haley article of her's (co-written):
